- Returned on Thursday 20th, emotionally and physically drained.
- I have temporarily created a "Vukovar 2008" page which will have all the photos, articles and newspaper cutting in. I am currently sifting through all the pictures, etc as there is so much.
- I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this, especially my Wife and Family. It has been a life changing, positive experience.

Welcome! My name is Simon Hutt and this is my personal website . This site includes a few sample chapters from my autobiography "Paint", and some information on my history.
Firstly before you begin let me start by saying that I am not a War Criminal. Too often the popular view of volunteer fighters in Croatia and Bosnia is that of the psychopath, adventurer or mercenary; fighting for money or "the buzz". This couldn't be further from the truth. Most of the Western volunteers who fought were idealists, people who could see what was going on and wanted to make a stand. Adventurers and adrenaline junkies were soon got rid of, and when (or if) any payment was received it was the equivalent of around £10 per month. Nobody fought for the money.
An ongoing list is being compiled by the USDDR ( Association of Foreign Volunteers of the Homelend War) and so far (Sept 2008) there are 410 names of foreigners from 33 countries that have been confirmed as serving in Croatia and Bosnia. Of those, 70 were wounded at some point (including myself) and 53 were Killed in Action.
Thanks for coming, enjoy your visit!
